A Swiss citizen born in Geneva, resident in Hong Kong since 2004, the author is a seasoned and multi-faceted legal practitioner, with a magna cum laude Swiss PhD in Philosophy of Law, three Masters (MLaws/Law, MA/Finance, EPFL-HEC MAS/Technology Management) and three professional admissions at law (as a lawyer in Switzerland and as a solicitor in England & Wales and in Hong Kong).

During a legal career of over 35 years, he worked extensively with European, Russian and Chinese individual and corporate clients (click on the "Law firm" button for more info).

He was appointed Honorary Legal Advisor to the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA) in 2008 (click on "LinkedIn" button for more info); his other former capacities have included acting as:

- Lawyer Partner, responsible for an office (Geneva) or for a department (Private Clients), in two top-tier Law firms, one in Switzerland (HQ Lugano) and another in China and Hong Kong (HQ Beijing);

- Adjunct Professor of international business law in an American University in Geneva;

- Member of the ‘Anti-Money Laundering Committee’ of the Law Society of Hong Kong, for over 15 years; this committee has devised and updated the anti-money regulation applicable to all solicitors and foreign lawyers in Hong Kong ('Practice direction P'), is tasked with commenting on anti-money regulations and Legco bills, and participates as a representative of the HKSAR Law Society in the GAFI-FATF Mutual Evaluations of Hong Kong as a jurisdiction;

- Member of the ‘Professional Services Committee’ of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), chaired by the Honorable Leung Chun-Ying, 3rd HKSAR Chief Executive (2012-17) and current Vice-Chair, National Committee of the CPPCC, then by The Honorable Paul Chan Mo-Po, 5th HKSAR Financial Secretary (2017-incumbent);

- Chairman of the ‘Europe Committee’ of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), the most important Chamber of commerce in Hong Kong, founded in 1861;

- President of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (Swisscham), which represents the business interests of the Swiss community and of Switzerland-related businesses in Hong Kong;

- Chairman of the ‘Tax & Legal Committee’ and Member of the Councilors’ Board of the French Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, the organ of the french business community in Hong Kong;
